Willowbank Community Integration Project ‘One Year On’

In March 2010 Willowbank were successful in receiving £228,580 from BIG Lottery Reaching Communities Programme to deliver a 5 year Community Integration programme designed for and by people with disabilities

It is hard to believe that we are one year on with this project. The BIG funding has benefited local people in many ways by improving people’s skills, abilities and confidence. Through training and support tailored to the individuals and groups needs.

This year we will be engaging with more disabled people in the wider community to assist them in developing their skills.

Using their ICT course participants  have produced a booklet called ‘one year on’ which showcases some of the work the BIG funding has supported. The booklet also records at a personal level the impact that BIG funding has had locally for participants and how much it has meant to them. The Reaching communities funding also contains an element of support to develop the organisation Patricia Cushley staff member said “for a small organisation like ours being able to get quality training as part of the BIG funding has been great in terms of staff development but also for the community as these skills are now here as a local resource”

The official launch of the Community Integration Project and celebration booklet will take place on Wednesday 28th Sept 2011 in Willowbank Community Resource Centre ann@willowbankcommunity.org / One Year On
