Speaking at the event Chairman of Clanrye Group Jerome Mullen said:  “This training programme provides an excellent example of how European Social Funds (ESF) and local public sector funding can work hand in hand for the benefit of our community.  It is important that adequate funding is put in place to ensure programmes like these are sustained.”

Jerome went on to congratulate the achievement of all trainees who received qualifications.

Bronagh McKeown Head of Physical Disability for Southern Health & Social Care Trust (SHSCT) said, “I commend all trainees for your drive and commitment to develop new skills and to take your rightful place in the employment market.  The qualifications you have been awarded today are in recognition of this commitment.”

Clanrye Retail has been developed to expand existing employment and training services for people with a physical disability.  Training is being offered to individuals who have a physical disability or health condition, are unemployed and are seeking employment upon completion of their training.  An integral element of this project is the retail gift shop `Heart & Home’, located at The Quays Shopping Centre in Newry.
